Best Deal I"ve Had In Awhile March 11, 2010 Rick Avant (San Antonio, Texas) I love this device. Easy to set up. Works like a charm. Great price. Probably will purchase one for each of our TVs.
Great little box March 10, 2010 Theodore Trinkaus (pittsboro NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This little box gives you a number of things...I have it hooked up to my receiver so we can watch Netflix movies or or listen to Pandora radio. The signal comes over the HDMI cable as a CD 44.1khz signal For Pandora or 720pHD signal for Netflix. My internet connection speed is 3mbs or so and seems completely adequate although if someone else is web browsing while watching a movie, it slows down a bit. These two alone are worth the price of the box, just go to your queue on your computer, add instant movies and watch them anytime. Remember, there is no monthly subscription. Ease of installation is good but you have to go to your computer to load Netflix movies or add a radio station with Pandora. Overall, a great way to add versatility to watch movies on the big screen and get music played on your surround sound system.
Roku March 9, 2010 James A. Sargent I recieved the unit and was able to have it connected and working in minutes. We use it primarily for Netflix and Music via Pandora. We have watch videos from a few other channels but not too many. I knocked one star off only because I would like to see it navigate all instant view videos without first putting them in your instant que via your computer. This is a minor inconvienence and I find overall performance to be excellent. The unit is a great bargin (I highly recommend). My internet connection is a max of 1.5 mbps. When my connection runs slower I sometimes get reloading but not often.
A Viable Cable Replacement March 9, 2010 Bozster (Chicago, Illinois) I bought this unit to better utilize my Netflix account and I am amazed with the results. There is such a variety of titles available for download that I am watching less cable programming. It also allows me to access my Amazon library of movies and television show that I had purchased over the years and played on my TiVo. The advantage of the Roku over the TiVo is the programming on the Roku is available to watch immediately and the the TiVo must download a substantial portion of the program (which can take 15 to 30 minutes) before it will allow you to view it. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this purchase and am considering eliminating some of the cable stations that I am paying for month after month. There are also some additional channels available on the Roku that I have not fully explored, so it can only get better.
Roku Rocks ! March 8, 2010 Don Kilmark 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product installed so easily I was actually afraid I had made a mistake. The only "complicated" steps were sending the the codes via PC & 'Net that linked the Roku to the services I chose (Netflix & Pandora). I was connected wirelessly to both within minutes of opening the box. I did not realize before the purchase that I could hook it to Pandora; I connected the Roku to my sound system and TV and Dolby 5:1 stereo flooded the room. I often start Pandora on the Roku and turn the TV off - excellent relaxing surround sound while I read or meditate. Even if I pick a bogus movie to stream I can skim it (fast-forward) or just remove it. Some day all video and sound will be available this way (not all movies are instant-play at the vendor channels). I wish health care was this easy to choose and pay for.
