5 out of 5 stars LOVE THIS SWIFFER!!!   July 28, 2010
E. DesRochers (Massachusetts)
I purchased this item as a backup to my large, bulky central vac. I have a lot of hardwood floors and ceramic tile and just wanted an adequate unit to maintain them between vacuuming with my central vac. I really didn't have high hopes for the Swiffer Sweeper Vac, and was more than pleasantly surprised at how well this thing works! Even the central vac doesn't do as good a job of "dusting" the floors! I have 2 dogs, 2 kids and a husband that works in construction, so there is plenty of dirt/dust/pet hair for this thing to pick up and it does the job wonderfully! Plus it is light weight and gets into some nooks and crannies that the big vac doesn't reach! The price is reasonable as well. Only drawback is the battery run time - it dies before I can complete the whole job, so I just do different areas on different days. But other than that, this Swiffer Sweeper Vac is awesome, and I highly recommend it!!!

3 out of 5 stars Great for small jobs ... but ...   July 27, 2010
Guinevere (NY)
I bought this vac mostly because we got a new puppy and we were getting so many messes in the house I was using the big vacuum 3 times a day (he loves to bring in dirt and grass on his paws and whatever else meets his fancy)

This little vac really does a nice job, it picks up just about any sort of hair and dirt on the ground, as well as kitty litter!

So why only 3 stars? The vac's charge is terrible. The recharge time is insane, I dont see how this is energy saving for me, sure its more convenient but at what cost? I havent receive my power bill yet to say if its a big change.
Now I admit I have a pretty large home I do with this little vac but after each use which I would say is about 10 mins I have to recharge it, its not dying but if I dont charge it the next time I do use it, it will probably die.

And it takes almost 24 hours to get a full charge! Thats crazy!

The vac has a small filter. I took one of the reviewers suggestion and after each use I empty the vac and clean the filter out with a toothbrush and some dish soap. Its about a month old and the filter still looks new! So dont go out changing the filter you dont need too that often. The pads for the vac are a bit pricy (Almost $5 for 20 of them) but I guess I can make due with that.

So all in all this vac is so convenient and light weight and does a wonderful job, but the battery and charge time is truly a draw back.

5 out of 5 stars I write this in the first flush of new love. But still...   July 21, 2010

Yes, I love this gadget. Now understand, I am gadget girl so I'm predisposed to like stuff like this. But I don't have a lot of patience for ones that don't work properly. Swiffer really has come through with this number. It's a lightweight unit that vacuums as it dusts the floors, picking up surprisingly large bits of fribble while it cleans up dust a normal vacuum won't. Believe me on this. I have a Dyson which is a great vacuum, but it simply doesn't suck up the dust, which means that in order to clean my kitchen or bathroom floor, I had to sweep or vacuum up anything bigger than a very small sock bug (The schmuts of lint that come off of socks and scare you silly in dim light because they look like the grandmother of all bugs.) Then I had to dust the floor, and only then could I wash it without creating dust snakes out of water and, well, dust. And they're just nasty.

So along comes the Swiffer sweeper-vac and it cuts one whole step out of my cleaning routine. That alone qualifies the inventor for sainthood in my book. It's easy to assemble, uses disposable sweeper vacs just like the Swiffer sweeper (Or you can use your own rags. Many Swiffer products are easily hackable.) and has surprisingly powerful suction for something thats 1) cordless and 2) this small.

And while I'm on the subject of small, let me say that this little number gets places that nothing else has been able to reach. I can actually vacuum/sweep under things I used to have to move. It's low enough at the sides to slide deeply under both stove and refrigerator, which means that all those little bits of things you drop while you're cooking but don't feel like digging out because, ew, what else is under those appliances? They get sucked up and thrown away.

The dust cup is smallish, so you're going to have to empty it with each use, and the filter will need changing on a regular basis -- Swiffer says six months, but your mileage may vary. And the rechargeable battery is a NiCad which means that if you dispose of your sweeper, you need to recycle the battery. But honestly? I don't see you having to do that for a very long time.

Yeah, I'm liking Swiffer products a really, really lot. They do a terrific job, are affordably priced, and make my life easier. They're also easy enough to hack if you want to change anything. For around $30, you can't go wrong, in my opinion.

I am so glad someone has invented this, it is wonderful. It vacuums and cleans the floor at the same time. So easy to use, only thing is, it takes time to re-charge the battery, and you have to wait until the battery is full charged.
